The artist Dieter Roth, who died in 1998, considered everything as a possible medium for making art: cheese, chocolate, rabbit droppings. He painted, drew, printed, wrote, made films, played music and created his own world.
These are some of his answers when interviewed: Family name and first name?
Roth, Karl-Dietriech. An alias maybe? Dieter Roth Place, date, time of birth? Hannover 1930. I Don't know what time it was. How did you get to be an artist? I Don't know if or how. How would you like to come back to the world? Healthy + happy. Marital status? Traveller. Children? Four. Do you think there are any eternal values in art?
I don’t see any.
The film follows Roth's life and art, providing an insight into his crazy world with the help of his son Björn, who worked with his father for the last 20 years of his life.
