While focusing on the "Godmother of Punk", this film is not so much about rock history, although it does include appearances by major musicians, including Bob Dylan, Tom Verlaine ("Television") and Michael Stipe ("REM"). Directed and shot by fashion photographer Steven Sebring since the mid 1990's for about 11 years, this documentary follows Patty Smith as she tours the USA and visits France, Italy, and Israel - and travels down memory lane.
Composed of recollections, reflections and electric guitars, this film is very personal for Smith and Sebring alike.
With: Bob Dylan, Philip Glass, Sam Shepard, Michael Stipe, Tom Verlaine, Lenny Kaye, Jay Dee Daugherty, Flea, Benjamin Smoke
