 Piotr Anderszewski / Unquiet Traveller

83 minutes. French & Polish, Hebrew & English subtitles

Saturday 31.10, 19:30 Cinematheque 1

Like a modern-day troubadour, the pianist Piotr Anderszewski does not travel by airplane or car but in a private railway carriage hired for the purpose, which also carries his piano. The carriage is attached to various trains according to an itinerary dictated by places he wishes to visit and his concert schedule.

The film follows him on a trip through towns and villages in Poland and Hungary, and then on his visits to Bremen, Paris and Lisbon – his new home. It is an unusual and fascinating "road movie" about an unusual man and artist.

The musical repertoire selected for the rehearsals and concerts held during this journey consist of essential and often unusual pages works by Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Brahms, Szymanowski and more.
